Bucket ListS.....
I have been pondering this post for a few days. Shaila and I went and saw the movie, THE BUCKET LIST few months ago. The premise being, two men who knew they would pass away soon- made a list of things they wanted to accomplish before they passed away. We thought it would be fun to make our own bucket lists.
Some of the things we listed were:
Getting published (again)
Speaking at Women's conference or Education week. (I speak/teach better than I write. Thought I would add that in case you have connections WINK WINK)
I was looking at the list and thought, these are great ideas if I had 20 plus years ahead. But what would my list look like if I had less than a year. (Like in the Movie) Would getting published be as important to me as writing in my journal?
What would be on my list if I knew I had a short time? What would be on top?
So that is my question to you. If you had 15-60 years ahead, what would be on your bucket list?
What if you only had twelve months. What would be on your list? What would be on top?

12 friends had this to say:
It would be so hard for me to think of it all. I would love to conquer some of the fears I carry that hold me back. That would be a first. Then all the rest would be so much more easier. Or, maybe it would be going for the bucket list, would rid my fears.
I would love to see some church history sites. See my husband active again. And also my one son, and then go on a mission together.
Oh the possibilities are endless.
I have missed you!!! I tried catching up on blogs tonight but my phone keeps ringing...
There is so much that would be in my bucket list.
In my one year list. I would check out of life in general. My entire family and we would tour the world. We would first start and see each family member and enjoy sites and spots around their state, and then travel and I would take my children to Jerusalem and to the old world. I would show them the cities they read about in the scriptures. Money would not be an object because I have a nice life insurance policy. Mr. Incredible has a job where he can sustain the family and the ability that he could check out of life and take a year absence. The children would be untaught but we would work out the details on that. I wouldn't want them to be held back in the educational system because of me. The thing is we never really know how much time we have. So, we have to live each day working towards our goals of what is important to us. don't way for a finitive moment.
I always wanted to adopt the "unadoptables"...live in a wonderful big farm house with a wraparound porch where they could play and interact with the animals...if I only had a short time to live, adopting wouldn't be fair but maybe they could come over and be loved for that time. That and sit in an isolated forest somewhere and have the animals get used to my being there so they'd be themselves.....service mission like Mary Ellen Edmunds...that would be awesome too.
I LOVE the idea of a bucket list. Manga Dork and I have been working on ours. When Foster Son moves out, school starts, and I am back from Lil Sis's house I plan on redecorating my blog and this is going to be one of the additions. So stay tuned..
wow...that is neat to think about. 1. i want to go to Nauvoo for crying out loud!!! my ward has had so many trips there...and somehoe i still have never been!!!
2. i want to go to salt lake city
3. i want to go to idaho
4. i want my ((big extended)) family to ALL be active in the church and everyone be sealed together for Eternity.
I have thought about making this list for months. Everytime I try I can only come up with a few because my mind get going full speed ahead. I would love to visit Scotland and Germany where I have family ties. I'd also like to go back to Nauvoo and see the temple. After that I get stuck!
I have been thinking about this as well. I started writing a comment here and soon found that is was not a comment but a post. So I posted my thoughts on my blog. Thanks for asking! m
It's a really slow day at work so I found myself wondering how the phrase "Kick the bucket" came about. Check out this cool link http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/218800.html
Apparently the frame used to hang animals for slaughter was called a bucket and they kicked in the process. Interesting!
Jan, I love that... endless... I guess we just need to make the goals!
Shaila, missed you! cant wait to hear about your trip!
MOther Goose, WOW, you have it mapped out... why not spend a summer doing some of that??
Gwen, I so love that goal! YOU would be awesome at that! I think pets can break lots of barriers! YOU would be a great missionary! LOVED the link to how did we even get the term!
Scarp, cant wait to see what you do with your talented self on your blog!!!
Merrianne, I think you need to just make it a weekend and go to Nauvoo!
Marrdy, I guess you could do the things on your list and add as you go!!! I hear Scotland is SO PRETTY!
Mechelle, I checked out your blog, LOVE your posted thoughts on the bucket list!
I have been thinking about the exact same thing recently. I actually wrote my "list" out when I was a missionary...I had about 20 things on there. I have been thinking about doing a post on it as well... just to see where I am on own bucket list!
The eternal family thing would be TOP of my list. My husband hasn't been overly active (just somewhat) for twenty years, so that would be the priority...getting our family sealed together. Aaaah. Dreams...
